NFL Picks: PRESEASON WEEK 2: BROWNS-EAGLES

Here are the BUSR NFL Odds for this preseason game:

Cleveland Browns: +3.5 (-110), +155, 0 38 (-110)
Philadelphia Eagles: -3.5 (-110), -191, U 38 (-110)

Well, the Cleveland Browns will be playing their second preseason game, when they go and meet the Philadelphia Eagles, after losing their first preseason game against the Washington Commanders, on the other side the Eagles also lost their first game against the Baltimore Ravens. The Eagles besides not putting all the best key players in that game, couldn’t stop the Ravens from losing their 23-game preseason game-winning streak.

The Browns will have their quarterback for a complete season after Deshaun Watson completed his suspension last season and played some games. And we can see him playing against the Eagles on Thursday. The 27-year-old quarterback has a contract with $230 million guaranteed money and the franchise is betting that he has returned to form and be that talented leader, good arm, and is very quick in the pocket and running the ball. Browns rookie QB Dorian Thompson Robinson threw a TD pass to David Bell in the third, so he had his playing time also in that game.

Watson will have new and good players to throw the ball now, Elijah Moore, the veteran Amari Cooper, Donovan Peoples-Jones, Cedric Tillman, and some other wide receivers.

The running backs will be starter Nick Chubb and second Jerome Ford they also have Demetrice Felton, John Kelly, Hassan Halt, and Jordan Wilkins. Cleveland lost 17-15 last Friday against Washington.

On the defense side, new defensive coordinator Jim Schwartz will still employ a 4-3 defense and use a wide 9 front which features having his ends get upfield faster.

PHILADELPHIA EAGLES

NFL Team Cleaveland BrownLast week was the first preseason game for the NFC Champions who lost to the Baltimore Ravens, head coach Nick Sirianni decided to not use starters Jalen Hurts and Jason Kelce, but he did use running backs D’Andre Swift and Rashaad Penny for a limited playing time.

In that first game against the Ravens, the Eagles were able to put the first 7 points on the board thanks to Trey Sermon who just powered in for a 2-yard score.

CONTENDERS OR PRETENDERS FOR THE EAGLES

NFL Team Philadelphia EaglesPhilly probably owns the best NFL’s best all-around roster for the second consecutive year, doing a great job for general manager Howie Roseman. This team keeps its weapons with QB Jalen Hurts, A.J. Brown, Devonta Smith, Haason Reddick, and Darius Slay. They have some challenges to make it back to the Super Bowl, a tougher schedule, and new coordinators on both sides of the ball.

Some put the Eagles on an 80.8% to make it to the playoffs and a 25,5% to make it again to the Super Bowl. This team did lose five defense starters, all of whom play in the middle of the field. Tackle Javon Hargrave, linebackers T.J. Edwards and Kyzir White, and safeties Marcus Epps and C.J. Gerdner-Johnson. They have used their draft picks’ chosen tackles Jalen Carter and Jordan Davis to see if they can replace the players who departed.

On the offense side LG, Landon Dickerson, Sua Opeta, C, Jason Kelce, Josh Andrews, RG, Cam Jurgens, Tyler Steen, RT, Lane Johnson, and Jack Driscoll.

The Eagles have several players on the list for the Top 100 Players of 2003, Kelce is the fifth player of the squad to earn a spot on the list, with DeVonta Smith landing at No.100, Darius Slay at No, 65, Haason Reddick at No.48 and Lane Johnson at No.41. the Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts finished as the third-best player in the NFL Players Top 100 list for the 2023 season. Hurts earned the respect of his peers after an MVP-worthy 2022 season.

It has to be clear that making it to the Super Bowl is very difficult and back-to-back seasons it’s even harder. The Eagles have the talent, the players, and the staff to get deep in the playoffs and reach the Super Bowl and win it. NFL Lines surely think so.
