NFL Analysis: Week 1 Detroit Lions VS Kansas City Chiefs
Milestone win for the NFL Franchise Detroit Lions who went to GEHA Field at Arrowhead Stadium, with a sellout crowd of more than 79,000 fans including a small group of Lions fans and were able to hold and win a tight game 21-20
The two teams gave an exciting Thursday night as they kicked off the first 272 regular season games this year. In the end, Patrick Mahomes and their receivers were not able to finish with a victory, The receiving corps struggled throughout the night not able to catch easy passes from Mahomes On the other hand the Lions who were losing a long game, in the second half made the points to barley win the match. Detroit Lions did their game
Lions score first in the first quarter, J Goff makes a short pass right to A. St. Brown for nine yards, in 14 plays, 91 yards, make the field goal and go up 7-0
The second quarter was dominated by the Champs, Patrick Mahomes on a short pass to R. Rice for a 1-yard touchdown and its field goal, tied the game. Then they score again with a four-yard pass to B. Bell for another touchdown and its field goal to finish the first half winning 14-7.
Second half, the Lions came back when one of its rookies B. Branch intercepted a pass intended to K. Toney and made a touchdown for 50 yards, they made the extra point and tied the game.
The Chiefs go up again on the score with a 35-yard field goal and another one from 39 yards to go up 20-14.
But here comes the Lions, with their new running back D. Montgomery who scores. An 8-yard touchdown, 9 plays, and 80 yards, to even the score 20-20, and with the field goal went up on the scoreboard 21-20 and that’s the way it finished.
What Happened to the Champs?
Patrick Mahomes went for 21/39 CP/Att yards and 226 yards and the team for 226 yards, and 90 rush yards, for a total yards of 316. Down the stretch, the Chiefs wide receivers were not able to catch easy passes and allowed the Lions to come back.
The Lions on their side went for 250 pass yards, and 118 rush yards for a total of 368 yards, having better numbers than the Chiefs and going away with a win in a tough stadium. The NFL Lines are certain that this Lion team will make it to the playoffs this season.
