American football is a team sport. But often, individual performances can make the difference between winning and losing. Now, as the season hurtles towards the finish line, the premium on winning with eight spots in the playoffs up for grabs couldn’t be any greater.  So, as we look ahead to the weekend slate of NFL betting action, we hone in on some of the best player props currently trading on the NFL odds board. We’ve got a FIVE NFL player props below, featuring several touchdown scorers and a couple of passers props for you to sink your teeth into for your NFL picks.

NFL Week 16 Best Player Props

·        Tee Higgins anytime touchdown scorer +190

·        Stefon Diggs anytime touchdown scorer -135

·        James Cook anytime touchdown scorer -105

·        Dak Prescott passing touchdowns Over 1.5 (-165)

·        Brock Purdy passing touchdowns Over 1.5 (-150)

Tee Higgins anytime touchdown scorer +190

For our first NFL player prop, we turn to the AFC North clash between the Pittsburgh Steelers vs Cincinnati Bengals.

Backup quarterback Jake Browning and the Cincinnati Bengals are red-hot and riding the momentum of a three-game winning streak into NFL Week 16. The stakes couldn’t be any higher for Cincy right now. The Bengals are 9-5 on the season and competing for one of the coveted wild card spots in the AFC.

Bengals wide receiver Tee Higgins got off to a slow start this season before he was derailed with an injury in November. Overall, he has featured in 10 games and put up 497 receiving yards on 36 receptions and four touchdowns. Hardly dizzying stats!

However, he is coming off his best game yet in Cincy’s 27-24 win over the Minnesota Vikings. Importantly, Browning targeted Higgins eight times – the most of any player on the receiving corps last Sunday. Higgins hauled four of those for 61 receiving yards and two touchdowns.

This is a positive sign for coach Zac Taylor, who’s having to juggle injuries this weekend. Most notably star wideout Ja’Marr Chase (shoulder)  could be sidelined for their AFC North showdown against the Pittsburgh Steelers.

With Chase out, Tee Higgins and Tyler Boyd will be the main offensive targets. After last weekend’s Browning-Higgins connection, which could be a sign of a nice chemistry brewing between them especially, Higgins should benefit with another standout game.

NFL Picks: Higgins anytime touchdown scorer +190

James Cook anytime touchdown scorer -102

james cook

Our second NFL player prop focuses on the Buffalo Bills vs Los Angeles Chargers game. The Buffalo Bills are in the midst of a late-season surge as they give the Miami Dolphins chase for the AFC East title.

Importantly, Josh Allen and the Bills kept their post-season hopes alive with a comprehensive 31-10 win over the Dallas Cowboys last Sunday. James Cook had a big night, rushing for 179 yards and a touchdown. He also had two receptions for 42 receiving yards and a touchdown.

The Bills take on a Los Angeles Chargers (5-9) side that is in the midst of an existential crisis following a 63-21 walloping by the Las Vegas Raiders. Not surprisingly, after that embarrassing performance and the team’s underwhelming effort throughout the season, head coach Brandon Staley and general manager Tom Telesco were sacked.

On top of it all, the Chargers are without their star quarterback Justin Herbert for the rest of the NFL season. They’re practically out of the playoff frame and have nothing to play for save pride. In short, they are there for the taking.

If rookie quarterback Aiden O’Connell and the Raiders can put up 71 points on the Chargers, one has to consider Allen and his go-to offensive targets could put up similar gaudy numbers.

The Chargers’ rushing defense ranks 15th in the league, conceding an average of 113.9 yards. The Raiders rushed for 124 yards against the Chargers. Another prop bet to consider for Cooks is the rushing line. Cooks’  rushing line is projected to 68.5 with both the over and under juiced to -115 respectively.

Stefon Diggs anytime touchdown scorer -135

Our next prop features the same game: Bills vs Chargers.

Wideout Stefon Diggs wasn’t quite as productive last Sunday, with just four catches and 48 yards on the night and zero touchdowns. However, he has 1,041 receiving yards from 91 catches and eight touchdowns this season.

With Diggs coming up against a porous pass defense – third worst in the league – he’s got a great chance to pad his stats.

In fact, there are many ways to back Diggs in NFL prop betting this weekend. We are highlighting his anytime touchdown scoring odds, but there are reception props to  consider as well. Diggs’ receiving line is projected to 68.5 with the over juiced to -125,

NFL Picks: Diggs anytime touchdown scorer -135

Dak Prescott passing touchdowns Over 1.6 (-165)

Dak Prescott is coming off a poor performance against the Bills last Sunday. He went  for 21 of 34 passing for 134 yards, zero touchdowns and one interception.  Fortunately, Prescott’s abysmal showing in the Cowboys’ loss didn’t cost Dallas in the NFC East standings because the Philadelphia Eagles went on to lose on Monday night to the Seattle Seahawks.

As things currently stand, the Cowboys are in first place in the division but tied with the Eagles on a 10-4 record. Prescott is in the running for NFL MVP – he is second on the board with 28 touchdowns and fifth overall with 3,639 passing yards. But if he is to get the most valuable player nod, he needs to ball out in the last three weeks of the season, and especially against a credible opponent such as the Miami Dolphins this weekend.

Prescott is projected to a 1.5 passing touchdown line with the over juiced to -165 and the under priced at +130. Look for the Dallas starter to find his mojo again.

NFL Picks: Prescott passing touchdowns Over 1.5 (-165)

Brock Purdy passing touchdowns Over 1.5 (-150)

brock purdy

Second-year quarterback Brock Purdy is balling in his first full season as the San Francisco 49ers’ starter, so it only makes sense that we turn to him for our last NFL player prop bet here.

Purdy leads the league with 29 touchdowns to just seven interceptions. He is second in passing with 3,795 yards and has a league-leading 119.0 passer rating. He’s also in the MVP race and favored at the sportsbook exchange to clinch the honour.

The Niners are riding high in the NFC standings behind an 11-3 record. They are on a six-game winning streak going into NFL Week 16 and they are in pole position for the No.1 seed.

Of course, a lot of their success is down to the poised play of Purdy, who has had four-touchdown games against the Eagles (Week 13) and the Arizona Cardinals (Week 15) in the last three weeks. However, the Niners team is loaded on the offensive side of the ball.

Purdy has enviable targets to throw or pass to and they are peaking at the perfect time. On the season, Purdy has had  multiple touchdowns in eight of 14 games. In his last six starts, five have seen him put up multiple touchdowns. There’s a good chance he will continue on this rich vein of form and produce another multiple touchdown game against the Baltimore Ravens in what is going to be an epic battle on Monday night.

NFL Picks: Purdy Over 1.5 (-150)
