New York Giants Looking to Rebound

The New York Giants find themselves struggling after a dismal 28-3 loss to the Eagles, their second straight defeat. This loss leaves the Giants at 2-5 on the season and last in the NFC East, three games behind Washington for the top spot.

Against Philadelphia, New York couldn’t find any offensive rhythm, trailing 14-0 by the second quarter and never closing the gap. They were outgained 339-119 in total offense, and managed just 10 first downs while allowing 20. The Giants also lost the time of possession battle, holding the ball for only 24:40 compared to the Eagles’ 35:20.

New York’s offensive struggles are evident in their stats. The Giants rank 23rd in passing offense, averaging only 189.1 yards per game, and 25th in rushing offense with 101.6 yards per contest. Scoring has been their biggest issue, ranking 30th in the league by putting up just 14.1 points per game.

Defensively, they fare better, ranking 12th by allowing 21.3 points per contest. Quarterback Daniel Jones has had a difficult season, completing 150 of 240 passes for 1,442 yards, six touchdowns, and four interceptions while being sacked 21 times.

Running back Devin Singletary leads the team with 239 yards on the ground, followed by Tyrone Tracy Jr. with 231 yards. The rookie Malik Nabers has been a bright spot in the receiving game, posting 39 catches for 427 yards and three touchdowns.

The Giants will need all hands on deck for this game, but injuries have hit them hard. Key players like cornerback Adoree’ Jackson (neck), punter Jamie Gillan (hamstring), and linebacker Ty Summers (ankle) missed recent practices. Other players, including cornerbacks Tre Hawkins III (ankle) and Cordale Flott (groin), remain limited, so keep an eye out for further injury updates before kickoff.

Pittsburgh Steelers Eyeing a Winning Streak

The Pittsburgh Steelers come into this game with confidence after two straight wins, most recently a convincing 37-15 victory over the Jets. This win put them at 5-2 for the season, tied with the Ravens for first place in the AFC North.

Against the Jets, the Steelers trailed early but quickly turned things around with a strong third quarter, leading 23-15 before dominating in the fourth to seal the win. Pittsburgh’s offense outgained the Jets 409-323, earned 21 first downs, and controlled the clock for over 32 minutes. Additionally, the Steelers forced two turnovers without committing any themselves.

Despite their recent success, Pittsburgh’s offense has room for improvement. They rank 26th in passing offense with just 180.1 yards per game, though they are more productive on the ground, ranking 9th in rushing with an average of 134 yards per contest. The team is 16th in scoring offense, averaging 23 points per game.

Quarterback Justin Fields has been steady, completing 106 of 160 passes for 1,106 yards with five touchdowns and only one interception while adding 231 rushing yards and five scores. Running back Najee Harris leads the team in rushing with 478 yards, and receiver George Pickens has been Fields’ top target with 31 receptions for 474 yards and a touchdown.

Defensively, the Steelers are among the best in the league, ranking 2nd in scoring defense by allowing just 14.4 points per game. They are also highly effective against the run, giving up only 3.6 yards per carry and forcing 13 turnovers this season. Their ability to shut down opposing offenses has made them a tough opponent, and they’ll aim to leverage this defensive strength against the struggling Giants.

Several Steelers players, including defensive tackle Cam Heyward (rest) and center Zach Frazier (ankle), missed practice earlier in the week, but they are expected to play Monday. With Pittsburgh’s defense healthy and performing at a high level, they appear well-prepared for this matchup.

Prediction

The Giants are coming off a rough loss to the Eagles and have struggled to find any offensive rhythm, managing just 119 total yards and three points last week. Facing a Pittsburgh defense that ranks second in scoring and has been stingy against the run, it’s hard to see New York breaking out of their slump.

The Steelers’ balanced attack, coupled with a defense that has consistently delivered, puts them in a prime position to take advantage of the Giants’ struggles.

Although the Steelers are not a powerhouse offensively, their defense means they don’t need to be, especially against a Giants team ranked near the bottom of the league in scoring. With Pittsburgh aiming for their third straight win, expect the Steelers to cover the 6-point spread comfortably.

Prediction: Pittsburgh Steelers -6
