Horse Racing Odds for Coaching Club American Oaks

The Grade 1, $500,000 Coaching Club American Oaks (CCA Oaks) is set to take place at Saratoga on Saturday, drawing a field of five elite 3-year-old fillies. Leading the pack is Thorpedo Anna, a two-time Grade 1 winner and earner of $1.7 million.

Field Overview and Analysis

The five fillies will compete over 1 1/8 miles on the main track, and the field includes four Grade 1 winners and three who won their most recent race.

Past CCA Oaks winners who went on to greater glory include Songbird, Abel Tasman, Monomoy Girl, Questing, Stopchargingmaria, and Nest.

The CCA Oaks is the 11th race on a 12-race card, with post time scheduled for 6:17 p.m. EDT.

Top Contenders

Bet on Horses with the Best Horse Racing OddsCandied: trained by Todd Pletcher and ridden by Manny Franco, is one of the Grade 1 winners in the CCA Oaks field. She won the Alcibiades as a 2-year-old and placed third in the Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Fillies. Her 2024 season began with a fifth-place finish in the Ashland but rebounded with a decisive win in the Lady’s Secret at Monmouth Park. She is a strong contender to consider in your offtrack betting strategy.

Barbratina: trained by George Weaver and ridden by Junior Alvarado, broke her maiden at Ellis Park last summer and has since had mixed results. She recently won a first-level allowance at Churchill Downs but needs a graded-stakes victory. She is unlikely to be a major factor in the horse racing odds for this race.

Thorpedo Anna: ridden by B.J. Hernandez Jr. and trained by Kenny McPeek, is the favorite and the leader of the 3-year-old filly division. With three dominant wins this year, after securing the Fantasy at Oaklawn, the Kentucky Oaks, and the Acorn, she comes into this race with high expectations. Her speed and consistent performance make her the top choice for the CCA Oaks.

Leslie’s Rose: trained by Todd Pletcher and ridden by John Velazquez, claimed victory in the Ashland at Keeneland, defeating Candied. Though she struggled in the Kentucky Oaks, finishing 13th, she rebounded with a second-place finish in the Acorn. She is a solid second-place choice in this race.

Intricate: trained by Brendan Walsh and ridden by Tyler Gaffalione, defeated Thorpedo Anna last November in the Golden Rod but has yet to match that success since. She was second in the Rachel Alexandra and fifth in the Fair Grounds Oaks. Her recent second-place finish in the Monomoy Girl at Churchill shows she can still compete at a high level.

Horse Racing Odds and Insights

Thorpedo Anna’s dominance and impressive performance make her the overwhelming favorite in the CCA Oaks. With her early speed and consistent wins, she stands out this weekend in the horse racing schedule.

Her strong record makes her a reliable pick despite her short odds. Watching her race provides an opportunity to witness a top Thoroughbred in action.

Thorpedo Anna’s success might affect betting patterns and expectations for upcoming races, including mixed-gender races like the Travers Stakes.
