Rising Stars Dominate Aqueduct’s Weekend Stakes

Shadwell Stable’s undefeated Muhimma secured her third consecutive victory with a commanding horse racing odds performance in the Grade 2 Demoiselle Stakes at Aqueduct. Trained by Brad Cox, the 2-year-old filly demonstrated her stamina and versatility in her first two-turn race, leading every step of the way to capture the $250,000 event by one length.  

The daughter of Munnings earned 10 points on the Kentucky Oaks leaderboard, further establishing herself as a top prospect in Cox’s talented juvenile division. Muhimma faced a late challenge from Ballerina d’Oro but held on gamely to complete the 1 1/8-mile race in 1:49.84. 

Cox expressed confidence in her ability to handle distance, highlighting her potential for marquee events like the Kentucky Oaks and Breeders’ Cup Distaff in 2025.  

Muhimma will head south for a brief rest before resuming training. With Saratoga betting fans likely to follow her closely, she joins a stacked roster of Cox-trained fillies, including Breeders’ Cup champion Immersive and Grade 2 winner Good Cheer.

Poster Prevails in Remsen Stakes  

Godolphin’s Poster earned a dramatic victory in the Grade 2 Remsen Stakes at Aqueduct, edging Aviator Gui by a nose in the $250,000 Kentucky Derby prep. Trained by Eoin Harty and ridden by record-breaking jockey Flavien Prat, Poster earned 10 Derby points with the win, showcasing his ability to handle the 1 1/8-mile distance on dirt.  

The son of Munnings made his dirt debut after two wins on turf, including an allowance victory at Keeneland in October. In the Remsen, Poster rated off the pace before making an early move on the turn, taking the lead in the stretch and holding off the late-charging Aviator Gui. Prat’s tactical ride marked his 80th stakes win of the year, setting a new single-season record.  

Harty expressed confidence in Poster’s development, noting his improvement with each race and his versatility across surfaces. As offtrack betting enthusiasts watch for Derby contenders to emerge, Poster’s dual-surface ability makes him a unique prospect.
