Among them, two were by the highly anticipated Liam McNeeley. Still, the most critical was by Solo Ball, who lost the ball near UConn’s basket, allowing Seton Hall’s Scotty Middleton to score the winning layup.
A Frustrating Weekend for UConn
With this loss, UConn (17-8, 9-5 in the Big East) is in a tough spot to defend its title. The team fell out of the Associated Press Top 25 on February 10, and after back-to-back national championships, they’ve had a challenging season, beginning with a 0-3 showing at the Maui Invitational in November. In their last 10 games, the Huskies have only won five, also losing to Villanova, Xavier, Creighton, and St. John’s.

The most surprising defeat was to Seton Hall (7-18, 2-12 in the Big East). The Pirates, who entered the game ranked 224th in the NET standings and were on a nine-game losing streak, stunned UConn, which appeared to be in good form for the NCAA Tournament.
