White Abarrio Prepares for Pegasus World Cup Return

Trainer Saffie Joseph Jr. is mapping a path to the $3 million Pegasus World Cup Invitational on Jan. 25, where White Abarrio will aim to extend his legacy in the sport.

After a 5 1/2-month layoff, White Abarrio made an emphatic comeback on Nov. 22, dominating a seven-furlong allowance-optional claiming race at Gulfstream by 10 1/4 lengths. 

This commanding performance solidified his place as a key contender for the Pegasus, a 1 1/8-mile contest that draws some of the best talent in horse racing. His return to form has caught the attention of bettors nationwide, with horse racing odds likely to favor him in his upcoming appearances.

Joseph has emphasized the importance of building White Abarrio’s momentum with shorter races. “Two one-turn races back into a two-turn race worked last year,” Joseph noted. By replicating this path, the trainer ensures the horse is in peak form for the Pegasus, a race that could further cement his reputation as one of the sport’s most versatile competitors.

White Abarrio has a history of excelling at Gulfstream Park, where he’s already delivered some of his most memorable performances.
