Pelicans signs Jaylen Nowell

Injury-Plagued Pelicans Strengthen Roster with Veteran

The New Orleans Pelicans have decided to strengthen their roster by signing free-agent guard Jaylen Nowell.

Injuries Affecting the Team

The season has started off challenging for the Pelicans, as they have been hit hard by injuries. Herbert Jones will be out for two to four weeks due to a right shoulder strain and a low-grade tear in his rotator cuff. Additionally, CJ McCollum will be sidelined for two to three weeks with a right adductor strain. On top of that, Dejounte Murray is expected to be out for another three to five weeks due to a hand fracture he suffered in the season opener, and Trey Murphy is also sidelined with a hamstring strain.

The Arrival of Nowell

Jaylen Nowell, 25, was part of the Wizards’ training camp on an Exhibit 10 contract but was waived last month. Now, he joins the Pelicans at a critical time, providing much-needed depth for the team. In his career, Nowell has averaged 8.9 points, 2.2 rebounds, and 1.8 assists over 197 games.

Opportunities for Bettors

Given the current situation of the team, the NBA ODDS have begun to reflect the Pelicans’ struggles. However, Nowell’s addition could change things. With an open roster spot, the team will not need to make any additional moves to finalize Nowell’s contract.

Bettors should keep an eye on how the team adapts to these new additions and the impact they will have on performance. The NBA ODDS can change rapidly.

Grant Williams Tackles Former Teammate Jayson Tatum and Gets Ejected

Grant Williams was ejected on Friday after bodychecking his former Boston Celtics teammate, Jayson Tatum, during a game between the Charlotte Hornets and the Celtics.

A Controversial Encounter

The game took place at the Spectrum Center in Charlotte, North Carolina, with the Celtics leading 114-105 and  about two minutes remaining. In a fast play, Tatum grabbed a defensive rebound and started a transition attack. However, as he crossed half court, Williams hit him hard, like a defender making a late tackle. This act cost Williams a flagrant 2 foul, forcing him to leave the court.

Celtics’ Victory

Despite the controversial play, Jayson Tatum had an impressive performance, leading the Celtics to a 124-109 victory with 32 points, 11 rebounds, three assists, and three steals. Williams, who played 30 minutes off the Hornets’ bench, scored six points, along with seven rebounds and three assists.

A Growing Rivalry

Williams, who spent his first four NBA seasons with the Celtics, was traded to the Dallas Mavericks last season, just before Boston embarked on their championship run. His farewell message to Tatum was humorous at the time, but after Friday’s incident, it seems tensions have risen between the two.

Williams had previously admitted feeling snubbed by the Celtics when he returned to Boston in an opposing uniform during a game in April. With this rivalry intensifying, bettors should pay attention to how this story develops over the course of the season. The NBA ODDS  may be affected by the intensity of these rivalries.
