Three Teams That Improved Significantly in the Eastern Conference

While teams in the Eastern Conference are making strides, they still lag behind the fierce competition in the wild West. However, it’s undeniable that the reigning champions, the Boston Celtics, are the top favorites again this season. Let’s take a look at three teams that have made solid additions for the new campaign and could challenge the Celtics. This season may be more competitive, and bettors might want to consider these clubs in the NBA ODDS.

1. Orlando Magic: Strong Defense, Need Offense

The Orlando Magic stood out last season for their defense, allowing the second-fewest points per possession in the league. Jalen Suggs became a steel magnet, while Paulo Banchero and Franz Wagner showcased admirable defensive commitment. Jonathan Isaac was also key with his rim protection skills.

However, the Magic struggled offensively, especially in the half court, averaging 14.9% turnovers. The addition of Kentavious Caldwell-Pope, a 40.6% three-point shooter, should create the necessary space for Banchero and Wagner to shine. KCP is a veteran who has played for notable teams, including the Los Angeles Lakers and Denver Nuggets, where he won championships.

2. Philadelphia 76ers: Star Players Returning

Last season, the Philadelphia 76ers  dealt with multiple injuries, with Joel Embiid playing just 39 games. Despite this, Embiid was a dominant force on the court, leading the league in dunks and threes. If he can stay healthy, the 76ers are expected to significantly increase their win total.

The arrival of nine-time All-Star Paul George should provide a major boost. His ability to shoot three-pointers at a 41.3% clip will make opposing defenses worry, benefiting both Embiid and Tyrese Maxey.

Prediction: The 76ers will improve by eight games, finishing with a record of 55-27.

 3. New York Knicks Impeccable Defense

The New York Knicks  may have the two best wing defenders in the league on their roster. OG Anunoby and Mikal Bridges are known for their ability to limit opponents, and together they can create a formidable defensive wall. While they will miss Isaiah Hartenstein, Mitchell Robinson remains an exceptional rim protector. However, there are still questions about their star, Julius Randle, who is often injured, and whether the team will extend his contract or look to trade him.
