Forever Young Wins Japan Dirt Classic, Eyes Breeders’ Cup Classic

Forever Young, the talented 3-year-old colt, secured a decisive victory in the 26th Japan Dirt Classic at Ohi Racecourse, overcoming a rocky start to win by 1 1/4 lengths.

This race was his final prep before heading to Del Mar for the highly anticipated Breeders’ Cup Classic. The win marks another impressive performance for the colt, quickly becoming a favorite among bettors following the horse racing schedule closely.

Trained by two-time Breeders’ Cup winner Yoshito Yahagi and owned by Susumu Fujita, Forever Young recovered swiftly from a stumble out of the gate. His regular jockey, Ryusei Sakai, navigated an inside path, allowing Forever Young to stalk the pace set by Kashima Espada.

As they rounded the second turn, Forever Young surged forward, taking the lead and pulling away in the final 300 yards. Mikki Flight, a late closer, managed to finish second, while Sunrise Zipangu followed in third, five lengths behind. Ramjet, a Grade 3 winner on a four-race win streak, finished fourth.

Betting on Forever Young

For offtrack betting enthusiasts, Forever Young’s performance in the Japan Dirt Classic has undoubtedly boosted his standing heading into the Breeders’ Cup Classic. His winning time of 2:04.1 over 2,000 meters, shy of 1 1/4 miles, reflects his ability to handle longer distances—a key factor for the upcoming race.

The early fractions of 23.7, 48.9, 1:13.6, and 1:39.2 highlight his consistency and stamina, making him a formidable competitor in a field stacked with international talent.

Forever Young’s record now stands at 6: 5-0-1, with previous wins including his debut, 2-year-old stakes, the Saudi Derby (G3), and the UAE Derby (G2). This consistency on the track is reflected in horse racing odds, where he’s expected to be among the top contenders for the Breeders’ Cup Classic.

Looking Ahead to the Breeders’ Cup Classic

The Breeders’ Cup Classic is one of the most anticipated races on a global scale, and Forever Young’s latest win only adds to the excitement. With a pedigree that includes Real Steel and having been bred by Northern Farm in Japan, he’s shown the versatility and stamina required for a strong showing at Del Mar. His close third-place finish in the Kentucky Derby and his ability to recover from setbacks make him a horse to watch.
