Buffalo Bills

The Buffalo Bills are coming off a hard-fought victory over the Arizona Cardinals in Week 1. They’ll look to start 2-0 for the fourth time in the last six seasons. Josh Allen, the Bills’ star quarterback, is off to a strong start, completing 78.3% of his passes for 232 yards, two touchdowns, and no interceptions.

Allen’s consistency has been notable, particularly in recent games, where he’s thrown two or more touchdowns in Buffalo’s last 13 matchups against Miami. His ability to extend plays with his legs is also a key factor, as he’s recorded 44 or more rushing yards in each of the Bills’ last six games as underdogs following a win.

On the receiving end, Keon Coleman and Khalil Shakir have combined for 93 yards and one touchdown, while James Cook adds versatility with three receptions and 71 rushing yards on 19 carries. The Bills’ ground game averages 130 yards per contest, and Cook has emerged as a reliable dual-threat option in the backfield.

Buffalo’s defense is giving up 28 points and 270 yards per game. Linebacker Terrel Bernard leads the team with 11 tackles, while Gregory Rousseau has been dominant, ranking tied for first in the NFL with three sacks. Despite these individual performances, Buffalo’s defense must step up if it hopes to contain Miami’s high-powered offense.

Historically, the Bills have had the upper hand in recent matchups against Miami, winning nine of the last ten meetings. However, Buffalo lost the first quarter in their six September games as underdogs against AFC opponents. This sets the stage for an exciting betting line, as NFL futures heavily favor Miami in this contest.

Miami Dolphins

The Miami Dolphins also secured a win in Week 1, defeating the Jacksonville Jaguars, and are seeking a third consecutive 2-0 start. Quarterback Tua Tagovailoa continues to prove his value, completing 62.2% of his passes for 338 yards, one touchdown, and no interceptions. Tagovailoa’s performance in September has been stellar, having recorded 270 or more passing yards in each of the Dolphins’ last three September games as home favorites.

The Dolphins’ dynamic receiving duo of Tyreek Hill and Jaylen Waddle combined for 239 yards and one touchdown in Week 1. Waddle, in particular, has been a force against AFC East opponents, recording 84 or more total yards in each of the Dolphins’ last four games as favorites against divisional foes.

Miami’s ground game averages 81 rushing yards per game, led by Jeff Wilson Jr.’s 26 yards on five carries. Raheem Mostert, however, remains a key figure, having scored a touchdown in each of his last ten appearances with the Dolphins as favorites following a win and boosting the Thursday Night Football Odds at the beginning of the season.

Defensively, Miami has allowed just 17 points and 267 yards per game. Linebacker David Long Jr. leads the team with eight tackles, while veteran Calais Campbell has one sack. Jevon Holland also made an impact with a pass deflection.

The Dolphins have been dominant at home, especially against AFC East rivals, winning their last 10 games as home favorites against divisional opponents. They’ve also covered the spread in seven of their last eight games as home favorites in the same division. Conversely, the Bills have struggled in Florida, losing three of their previous four games. Additionally, Buffalo has failed to cover the spread in four of their last five games at Hard Rock Stadium following a home win.

Prediction

Both teams needed strong second-half performances in Week 1 to secure their victories. On a short week, the Dolphins have a significant advantage, playing at home and avoiding travel. While Buffalo has had the upper hand in recent meetings, the Dolphins’ stability on both sides of the ball makes them a firm favorite. Expect Miami to cover the spread and secure a rare win over Buffalo in a game that could set the tone for the rest of the season.

Bet on Miami to cover the -2.5 spread.
