Bright spots for Buffalo were few, but rookie tight end Dalton Kincaid shone through with three catches totaling 45 yards. Conversely, backup quarterback Matt Barkley endured a challenging night, throwing three interceptions. One of those was expertly intercepted by Pittsburgh’s second-round pick, cornerback Joey Porter Jr., paving the way for another Steelers’ touchdown, putting them ahead 21-0 by halftime.

A Night of Honors

The night wasn’t just about football. The Steelers took a moment to honor the late Hall of Fame running back, Franco Harris. In a touching pregame ceremony, the club unveiled a jersey display in his memory. The Steelers had officially retired Harris’ No. 32 jersey last December after his unexpected demise at age 72. The ceremony was graced by Harris’ widow, Dana, and their son Dok, both of whom were also the honorary captains for the game.

Buffalo’s offensive tackle, Tommy Doyle, suffered a concerning left knee injury, leaving David Quessenberry as the lone backup tackle with NFL experience. Additionally, starting tight end Dawson Knox was sidelined due to a finger injury.

On the Steelers’ front, defensive lineman Larry Ogunjobi missed his second consecutive game with a foot/ankle issue. Nate Herbig (shoulder) and safety Tre Norwood (leg) also found themselves on the injury list.
