HARRIS TAKES THE LEAD

Vice President Kamala Harris has been announced as the presumptive Democratic nominee for the 2024 election. With 3,923 delegates petitioning for her nomination and securing 99% of participating delegates’ support, Harris is the sole candidate for the Democratic party’s presidential nominating ballot.

Harris marked her presumed nomination with a powerful rally in Atlanta, her 15th trip to Georgia since taking office. She emphasized Georgia’s crucial role in her path to the White House during her speech, reminding the crowd of their pivotal support in the 2020 election. She also challenged former President Donald Trump to commit to the upcoming presidential debate, which stirred an audience of over 10,000.

At the rally, Harris addressed key issues, promising to pass a bipartisan immigration bill, strengthen the middle class, and lower the costs of essential items. She also vowed to tackle price gouging, cap unfair rent increases, and reduce prescription drug costs. Notable figures, including Senators Jon Ossoff and Raphael Warnock, former Rep. Stacey Abrams, and rapper Megan Thee Stallion, joined Harris, underscoring the high-profile support and enthusiasm surrounding her campaign.

Harris’s campaign has surged, raising $200 million in less than a week since President Biden announced he would not seek reelection. With 170,000 new volunteers and significant fundraising, the campaign focuses on mobilizing key voter groups, particularly Black voters in Georgia, to replicate the success of the 2020 election.

The virtual roll call to officially make Harris the Democratic nominee will occur from August 1 to August 5.
