POLITICS News: Harris Raises $310 Million in July

RECORD-BREAKING FUNDRAISING

Vice President Kamala Harris raised an impressive $310 million in July, achieving a significant boost as she prepares for the November election against former President Donald Trump. This massive fundraising haul is evidence of solid support that will undoubtedly influence the presidential betting odds.

OUTPACING TRUMP’S FUNDRAISING

Harris’s campaign, along with the Democratic National Committee and affiliated entities, far surpassed Trump’s fundraising efforts, which brought in $138.7 million during the same period. Harris’ campaign now has $377 million in cash, a record amount for any presidential candidate in the election cycle.

CAMPAIGN MANAGER’S STATEMENT

For Julie Chavez Rodriguez, Harris’ campaign manager, this massive support in such a short time is a promising indication that the Harris coalition is mobilized and ready to work to defeat Trump this November.

TRUMP’S CAMPAIGN BOOST

Trump’s campaign saw a boost after an assassination attempt during a rally in Pennsylvania and the announcement of his running mate, Ohio Sen. JD Vance. On the other side, Harris is expected to reveal her running mate soon to galvanize her support base during the Democratic convention in Chicago starting on August 19.

IMPACT OF BIDEN’S ENDORSEMENT

The figures from both campaigns do not yet include full Federal Elections Commission filings. However, a significant portion of Harris’ donations came after President Joe Biden announced on July 21 his decision to step down and endorse Harris.

SECURING THE NOMINATION

Jaime Harrison, Chair of the Democratic National Committee, recently confirmed that Harris has secured enough votes from Democratic delegates to become the party’s nominee. This achievement makes her the first woman of color to top a major party’s presidential ticket. With this intense landscape, the presidential betting odds continue to shift as the campaign gains momentum.

BROAD-BASED SUPPORT

Two-thirds of July’s donations came from first-time contributors, with over 3 million donors making over 4.2 million contributions. Notably, 94% of these donations were under $200, and 60% of the donors were women, showing broad grassroots support.

VOLUNTEER ENGAGEMENT

The campaign has also seen increased volunteer engagement, with 170,000 new volunteers and 2,300 events mobilizing supporters in key states. This extensive ground effort is crucial for securing a victory in November and further affects the presidential betting odds.
