The Los Angeles Lakers are in the midst of a challenging coaching search after their top candidate, Dan Hurley, turned down their offer. Hurley, one of the most respected names in college basketball, met with the Lakers last week but opted to stay at UConn, where he is expected to secure a lucrative new contract.

Jerry West, the iconic figure whose silhouette is believed to be the inspiration for the NBA logo, passed away on Wednesday morning at the age of 86. The Los Angeles Clippers, where West served as a consultant for the last seven years, announced his death.
