OLYMPICS News: Simone Biles Medal Count

SIMONE BILES LEGENDARY

U.S. gymnast Simone Biles won the silver medal in the women’s floor exercise final, bringing her total to eleven Olympic medals: with a score of 14.133, Biles finished behind Brazil’s Rebeca Andrade, who scored 14.166. This silver medal comes at a crucial moment, as it might be her last appearance at the Olympics, significantly affecting the Olympic betting odds.

At the podium ceremony, Biles was seen alongside Andrade, who won the gold, and Jordan Chiles, who took the bronze. Chiles’s first individual medal of her Olympic career was marked following a late adjustment to her score.

Although Biles had never lost a major international competition in this discipline, she withdrew from the Tokyo 2020 Olympics to care for her physical and mental health. Despite that withdrawal, her performance in Paris has reaffirmed her status as one of the greatest gymnasts in history.

On the day of her silver medal, Biles also had a challenging performance on the balance beam, where she finished in fifth place after a fall. Italy’s Alice D’Amato won gold in this category, while fellow American Suni Lee finished in sixth place.

3 MUST-SEE OLYMPIANS YOU CAN’T MISS

1. RAI BENJAMIN, 400M HURDLES

Benjamin and two fierce rivals (Norway’s Karsten Warholm and Brazil’s Alison dos Santos) have recorded 19 of the 20 fastest runs in this event in recent years. The American hurdler and Warholm shattered the previous world record during the Tokyo Olympic final, which Warholm won in 45.94 seconds. Dos Santos and Warholm split the 2022 and 2023 world titles. The triumph would be monumental if Benjamin beats them for gold on Friday.

2. TRINITY RODMAN, SOCCER

Illicit drone use and spectacular late goals have increased the entertainment in the women’s tournament. Forced to win every match to reach the knockout stage, Canada overcame a six-point sanction but ran out of energy when Germany became the USWNT’s semifinal opponent. Rodman’s performance could decide who triumphs on Tuesday. This young and impressive American forward scored first against Zambia, Australia, and Japan in extra time with precise and occasionally spectacular finishes, opening more options for the Olympics betting odds.

3. LYDIA KO, GOLF

Although she hasn’t won gold in any tournaments, scores of 11-under in Rio and 16-under in Tokyo led Ko to consecutive Olympic podiums. The New Zealander won for the 20th time on the LPGA Tour in the 2024 season opener. Uneven results in recent months have reduced viewers’ confidence in Ko, who fell to No. 21 in the world rankings ahead of Wednesday’s first round at Le Golf National. However, no challenger to Nelly Korda’s supremacy in Tokyo is as decorated or proven on the Olympic stage, setting up a treat for bettors.
