Tom Brady’s Memorabilia and Watch Collection Fetch $9 Million at Auction

Tom Brady, widely regarded as the greatest quarterback in NFL history, further solidified his legacy off the field with an auction that captured the attention of collectors and sports fans worldwide.

The “GOAT Collection: Watches and Treasures from Tom Brady” sold for over $9 million at Sotheby’s in New York on December 10, surpassing its presale estimates. This highly anticipated event featured a mix of Brady’s personal sports memorabilia and high-end watches, attracting participants from 45 countries.

For those analyzing NFL Futures, Brady’s enduring influence on and off the field remains unparalleled.

Highlighted Sales from the Auction

Among the standout items in Brady’s collection was a yellow gold Rolex Daytona ‘John Player Special,’ which sold for $1.14 million, surpassing its high presale estimate of $900,000.

This watch held significant sentimental value, as it was worn when Patriots owner Robert Kraft informed Brady of his induction into the team’s Hall of Fame. Another remarkable sale included a custom-made Audemars Piguet Royal Oak, featuring “Tom Brady” inscribed in diamonds, which fetched $720,000. Brady had worn this watch during Netflix’s “The Roast of Tom Brady.”

The memorabilia portion of the auction showcased pivotal moments from Brady’s storied career. His jersey from his final college game, a classic Orange Bowl victory over Alabama in which he threw for 369 yards and four touchdowns, sold for $792,000, far exceeding its presale estimate of $500,000.

Another standout was the shirt Brady wore during the 2000 NFL Combine, a moment that highlighted his underdog journey to NFL greatness. Despite running a then-record-slow 5.28-second 40-yard dash, Brady was drafted in the sixth round and became a seven-time Super Bowl champion. The shirt sold for $144,000.

Record-Breaking Auction Results

The auction collectively surpassed its presale estimate of $5.2 to $8.9 million, totaling $9,004,800. Brady’s collection of luxury watches accounted for $4.6 million, while his sports memorabilia garnered $4.4 million.

Notably, 60 percent of the items sold for prices above their estimated value, with an average sale price of $219,629. Approximately 800 people registered to participate in the event, with 40 percent of the bidders under 40, underscoring Brady’s cross-generational appeal.

Additional Noteworthy Sales

Other key items included a helmet from Brady’s final game with the New England Patriots in 2019, which sold for $102,000, and a football from the game where he surpassed 100,000 career passing yards in 2022, selling for $144,000.

Even memorabilia from Brady’s off-field ventures, such as a tracksuit from the “DunKings” Super Bowl commercial autographed by co-stars Ben Affleck and Matt Damon, fetched $50,400, significantly above its estimate.

A Legacy Beyond the Gridiron

Brady’s illustrious career, spanning the New England Patriots and Tampa Bay Buccaneers, saw him retire as the NFL’s all-time leader in passing yards and touchdowns. With seven Super Bowl titles, Brady’s on-field achievements are matched only by his growing business acumen.

Since retiring in 2022, he has signed a 10-year, $375 million deal with Fox as an analyst, acquired a minority ownership stake in English soccer club Birmingham City, and recently gained NFL ownership approval for a stake in the Las Vegas Raiders.
