GEORGIA GOVERNOR BRIAN KEMP LEADS POTENTIAL GOP CHALLENGERS IN 2022 REPUBLICAN PRIMARY
Las Vegas – (January 7, 2021) – The BUSR/UNLV Lee Business School poll of Georgia likely voters finds Brian Kemp leading potential challengers in a hypothetical Georgia Republican gubernatorial primary in 2022. Among Georgia likely voters affiliated with Republicans, Governor Kemp leads former Georgia Congressman Doug Collins by a 48%-29% margin, former Heisman Trophy Winner Herschel Walker by a 50%-25% margin, and Georgia Congresswoman Marjorie Greene by a 60%-14% margin. Kemp holds an approval/disapproval rating of 64%-26% among Georgia likely voters affiliated with the Republican Party.
President Donald Trump is the overwhelming favorite among Georgia likely voters affiliated with Republicans if he decides to run for President again in 2024. Trump is the preference of 73% of Georgia Republicans. Trump holds an approval/disapproval rating of 89/7 among Georgia likely voters affiliated with the Republican Party.
If President Trump opts against a run in 2024, Vice President Mike Pence would start as a decent favorite among Georgia Republicans. Pence is favored by 36% of Georgia likely voters affiliated with Republicans if Trump does not run in 2024.
Governor Kemp leads a hypothetical Georgia gubernatorial general election matchup with Stacey Abrams by a 44%-40% margin. Kemp’s overall approval/disapproval rating with Georgia likely voters is 42/43.
This general election poll of 550 Georgia likely voters was conducted on December 30, 2020 and on January 3, 2021. The Republican primary part of poll was conducted of 209 Georgia likely voters affiliated with Republicans on December 30, 2020 and on January 3, 2021. Qualtrics collected the data for this survey. The margin of error for the general election poll is +/- 4 percentage points. The margin of error for the Republican primary part of the poll is +/- 7 percentage points.

2022 Georgia Republican Gubernatorial Primary
While Governor Kemp has been at odds with President Trump since the presidential election in November, Kemp remains in a relatively strong position to win a hypothetical Republican gubernatorial primary in 2022. He leads former Congressman Doug Collins, Herschel Walker, and Congresswoman Marjorie Greene in one-on-one matchups.
Senate Runoffs
While our poll shows both Senate races with effectively the same margin, there are slight differences. Georgia likely voters affiliated with Republicans are more unified in their support for Senator Loeffler than for Senator Perdue while Perdue performs better than Loeffler among Georgia likely voters unaffiliated with either party.

Ambassador and former South Carolina Governor Nikki Haley, Florida Senator Marco Rubio, Texas Senator Ted Cruz, former New Jersey Governor Chris Christie and Utah Senator and former Massachusetts Governor Mitt Romney.
