Ajax Downs is known for its long horse racing in Canada. For almost 50 years, it has been dedicated to the sport of Quarter Horse racing. Many of Canada’s top jockeys started their careers at Ajax Downs. In 2006 tje open a new facility with slot machines and a six furlong oval racetrack which was completed in 2009.

The track hosts a total of 35 racing dates each year with prize purses over $5 million. Key stakes include the Alex Picov Memorial Futurity, the Alex Picov Memorial Championship (G3), and the Ontario Jackpot Futurity.
