Presidential Election Odds: DNC Fundraising Record

Vice President Kamala Harris’s campaign has achieved an impressive milestone on its path to the 2024 presidential elections. According to her team, they have raised $540 million. This figure saw a significant boost from a surge of donations during the Democratic National Convention held in Chicago last week. This amount sets a record in the history of Harris’s campaign. It highlights the level of support she has received since taking on the role of the Democratic presidential candidate, raising the adrenaline in the Presidential Election odds.

A Solid Financial Support

Since President Joe Biden announced on July 21 that he would not continue with his campaign and immediately endorsed Harris, the campaign has seen a steady flow of financial support. This backing has been key to Harris quickly surpassing the half-billion-dollar fundraising mark: on Thursday night, just before Harris’s acceptance speech, the campaign reached the $500 million mark, an achievement that was followed by the highest fundraising hour since the launch of her candidacy, according to Jen O’Malley Dillon, the campaign chair.

This remarkable financial success has put Harris in an advantageous position against her opponent, former President Donald Trump, who has also proven to be a formidable fundraiser but seems to be lagging compared to Harris’s fundraising pace.

According to reports, Trump raised $138.7 million in July, a figure that falls short of what Harris achieved in the first week of her campaign. Although Trump had $327 million in cash available at the beginning of August, the difference in fundraising pace could impact his ability to compete in visibility and outreach in the crucial weeks leading up to the election, whether by scoring or losing points in the Presidential Election odds.

The Impact of the Democratic Convention

The Democratic National Convention consolidated Harris’s support within her party and ignited a wave of enthusiasm. It attracted many new donors, with nearly a third of the contributions during the convention week coming from first-time donors. Additionally, one-fifth of these new contributors were young voters, and two-thirds were women, both groups that the campaign considers crucial to securing victory in November and increasing the octane of the Presidential Election odds.

Fundraising is not the only indicator of Harris’s momentum: the significant increase in volunteer support reflects a mass mobilization that could translate into a greater ability to reach undecided voters and ensure high turnout at the polls. During the convention week, nearly 200,000 volunteer shifts were registered to support the vice president, showing strong and palpable enthusiasm among her supporters.
