San Francisco 49ers rookie wide receiver Ricky Pearsall has been released from the hospital after being shot during an attempted robbery in San Francisco.

Pearsall, 23, was fortunate enough not to require surgery and remained awake and lucid during his hospital stay. He was released from the hospital on Sunday afternoon. The 49ers organization expressed their gratitude in a statement, thanking the San Francisco Police Department, emergency medical services, and the medical staff at San Francisco General Hospital for their quick and professional response.

The Shooting Incident

The San Francisco Police Department has identified the suspect as a 17-year-old from Tracy, California, currently in custody. According to SFPD Chief William Scott, the suspect’s gun was recovered at the scene, and it appears that Pearsall was not targeted because of his status as an NFL player. The police believe that the suspect acted alone in the attempted robbery.

Pearsall, drafted by the 49ers with the 31st overall pick in this year’s NFL Draft, played three seasons at Arizona State before transferring to the University of Florida for his final two years of college football.
